WE'VE SOLVED SOMETHING
We’ve solved something! (at least according to Michael Rochelle, Chief Consultant and Analyst for the Brandon Hall Group). We were speaking with Michael a few weeks ago about our solution (i.e., what it has done for organizations, as well as what it will do moving forward with some of our upcoming enhancements). After taking it in and reflecting, Michael said, “You’ve solved something.”
Michael went on to explain. He said that, for a long time, organizations have been trying to figure out how to effectively manage their intellectual capital. He said that we are essentially helping to “create big-brain companies,” those that are able to tap into the collective experience of the workforce and subsequently optimize the intellectual capacity of the organization.
Our reaction? Cool.
We are glad that the market is recognizing what we are trying to do. For several years now, we have been trying to help organizations understand that the practice of mentoring can be so much more than what it has been. We’ve even toyed with the idea of moving away from the term mentoring -- ahhh, blasphemy! There can be a lot of baggage tied to that term in some organizations.
At the end of the day, we continue to stick with mentoring because what we are doing is connecting people with others for the sake of learning and knowledge transfer, and ultimately, that is mentoring. We will continue to educate the market on what mentoring is today (vs. what it was). And we will continue to help “create big-brain companies.” And that will continue to be cool.
